Hotmail live mail spyware? The "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)"

I found a got 50 “Delivery Status Notification (Failure)” when I open my hotmail account.
Just wonder what happen to my hotmail account, so I did a search for the solution.
Wondering whether it was cause by spywares or virus.
The following statement and solution may help you:
They don’t have to take over your account to cause those messages, your email account is probably still safe.
They are probably just using your email address when they fake the ‘from address’ in the spam they’re sending.
